Space Marine vs Orc

I want to experiment more with Sci-Fi themes with my illustrations, and I had an opportunity to do so recently with this piece.  I'll definitely be experimenting more with a Sci Fi and Fantasy setting for my future work, as I very much enjoy the freedom and creativity these illustrations provide.

Caricatures!

I recently had a chance to illustrate some caricature work for a client, and had a great time doing so.  The images are supposed to appear in a much smaller scale than what they appear here, so I was conscious for them to look nice and crisp without being overly detailed, as that would be lost at a smaller size.

Aphrodite

This is an illustration of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love.  I wanted to give a very lively, lush feel to the image to really help it pop, so I opted for a very elegant color scheme.  This image was fairly challenging to paint, but I received a ton of feedback from CGArtnexus.Com, and the feedback I received was incredible;  I wouldn't have been able to achieve this level of quality without the input I received, so a big shout out to that forum!  Aphrodite is just one of the many Greek mythological figures I'm planning to paint, as I'm very much inspired by those tales and am very much looking forward to painting some more!

World of Warcraft

This was painted for Blizzard Entertainment's BlizzCon 2014 Fan Art Contest.  Initially it was just going to be a pretty standard portrait, but I decided I wanted to give the image a bit more depth so I added the fairy and played up the details in the environment as much as I could.  The detailing for this piece was very time consuming, but I wanted to make it as refined and detailed as I possibly could.  Overall, I'm quite pleased with how this image turned out.

A commissioned piece.  This was a lot of fun to paint, haven't had this much fun with a project for a while!  I was asked to paint two dogs and a cat in a humorous way, and these are the results.  I really wanted to give this image personality so I decided to dress them up a bit which really helped bring them to life.

World War 2 Pin Up Girl

A commissioned piece featuring a World War 2 Pin Up Girl.  Had a lot of fun with this one.  The dress was very much inspired by Marilyn Monroe, and was probably the hardest element to paint in this piece.

Paladin

Commissioned piece for a Fantasy Book Cover.  This image depicts a Paladin, and I was given a lot of artistic freedom with this piece so it was a great experience to work on.  I wanted the image to look iconic with the figure looking very fierce and attractive at the same time.  The crows we're a final touch I gave to the image to give it a more ominous feel.  Overall I'm quite pleased with the image.

Secrets of the Lost Tomb

I'm proud to announce the official KickStarter launch of 'Secrets of the Lost Tomb', a cinematic pulp action/adventure board game.  To visit the official Kickstarter page, click here.  The illustrations we're a lot of fun to work on, as I never worked with such a diverse cast of characters before.  The look and feel we were going for was similar to that of Indiana Jones and games such as Uncharted and Tomb Raider, which I'm a huge fan of.  Overall I'm quite proud of the work I completed for the project and I hope you enjoy the game as well!

Apollo

Painting of Apollo from Greek Mythology painted for a friend.  I really enjoy depicting the tales from Greek Mythology, so I had an absolute blast painting this.  I'm very eager to continue painting more images with this theme as well, as I'm always inspired the richness of Greek Mythology.

Pin Up Illustrations

I was recently commissioned to paint several Pin Up Illustrations, and here they are!  I always wanted to work on a project like this so I'm very grateful for the opportunity.  I wanted each Pin Up to be unique, so I experimented a lot with the poses and color palettes.

Orphan Caricatures

I

I recently had a chance to paint two more Caricatures for an Orphanage thanks to Wittygraphy, and was more than happy to contribute my time to paint something for a positive cause.  I always have a great time drawing and painting caricatures, so these were a lot of fun to work on.  Additionally I wanted to push colors as much as possible with these two paintings, so I went a bit wild in that regard aiming for a very vivid look, which I feel suits these sort of images quite well.

Baby Dr. Lobo

This is a Card Game Illustration for the Board Game 'Agents of Smersh' that I recently completed.  This will be featured in the upcoming Expansion Pack for the game.  I had a lot of fun with this image, really enjoyed the humorous concept (this image depicts the main villain as a baby, with his unique hairstyle intact).  I wanted to give this image a lot of depth as well, so I spent quite a deal of time on the environment as well, which is a route I'm taking with all of my current work.

Carlos Caricature

This is a caricature I painted for Carlos, who is an orphan.  It felt great to be able to do something positive with my artwork, so I jumped right in for this opportunity.  Was also a great opportunity to practice more caricature work which I really enjoy, so you can expect more of that in the future.  Special thanks to Wittygraphy who was responsible for this event.

The Aussie Butcher

Card game Illustration;  I pushed the details here more than I usually do for a relatively small sized Illustration, but it was a lot of fun working on the atmosphere, rain effects, drops, etc. so I went with it.   The effects mentioned were very time consuming, but I feel that they add a lot of life and depth to the image.

Happy Father's Day

This is a portrait of my Father painted as a gift to celebrate Farther's Day.  My father has been incredibly supportive of me as an artist, and he pushed me very hard growing up to refine my technique as best as I can.  He also gave great critiques and feedback on what to improve on.  Although he's not an artist himself, he definitely has a great eye for art and knows what's working and what's not in regards to creating an image.  I wanted to experiment a lot with this painting, using a cooler color scheme than I'm used to and trying to create a more ethereal feeling with this painting, which I feel I achieved.  With that said, Happy Farther's Day to all!

The Vampire's Glare (Updated)

I recently had a chance to rework this painting.  I revised the face heavily, giving it much more depth, and detailing the features significantly.  Incorporated a lot of texture work as well to enrich the image as a whole.  Overall I'm quite pleased with this image.

.......................................................................................................................

This image was illustrated for Dusk: A Vampire's Tale (coming this Winter on Facebook). I wanted to do a different take on a Vampire, something a bit more exotique looking so I chose a golden theme for the image. The skin tones we're a lot of fun to work on as well, as they came out pretty much exactly how I envisioned them. I wanted to preserve the golden color theme, so I made sure not to keep the skin to light or desaturated, which I feel makes for a richer painting.

Jake Gyllenhaal Caricature

Caricature of actor Jake Gyllenhaal done for a contest.  I really enjoy doing caricature work, and haven't painted one in ages, so this was a lot of fun to tackle. I'm planning on doing plenty more caricatures in the future as well, would really like to expand my portfolio in that regard.  It also gives me a chance to show my sense of humor as well, which is always a plus.

Self Portrait

I recently had a chance to rework my Self Portrait, just to see how much I can improve it, and I'm quite pleased with the results.  Among the changes I made were better color harmony, stronger values, and more detail and definition in general.   The Master Copy Studies I've done definitely helped me out with this image, especially in regards to skin tones (learned a great deal from Bouguereau in that regard).

CountDown

This is a Board Game cover art Illustration I recently completed.  The subject matter was a bit different than my usual work (I generally paint Fantasy), so this was a welcome challenge.  This image was ridiculously time consuming as well, but it was well worth it as I feel I obtained a rich, crisp feel to the painting to really help it bring it to life.  I also played up the cool/warm tones quite a bit to give it a more lively look as well as to obtain more contrast as a whole.  The buildings we're a lot of fun to work on as well, had a blast detailing them and adding various levels of destruction.  Overall I'm quite pleased with how the image turned out.
