This is a the book cover illustration for A.P. Stephen's "Of Thieves and Elves". I was asked to paint something in the style of Batman: Arkham City, so this image was painted pretty much entirely in grayscale. I haven't painted exclusively with grayscale for years, so this was a nice change of pace, and really forced me to concentrate more on values and lighting as opposed to color.

for a second i thought they were Sam and Dean Winchester from the series "Supernatural" XD
I used one of those characters for reference so that a bit intentional on my part :D
